Coop Group reports increased sales and profit

In 2016, the Coop Group’s total sales amounted to CHF 28.3 billion, which corresponds to sales growth of 5.2%. The Coop Group's profit for the 2016 financial year was CHF 475 million. The good earnings situation in the Wholesale/Production Business Area had a positive effect on the result. The strong growth – 14.6% rise in sales in the online shop segment to CHF 1.4 billion – and customer growth of 2.6% in the supermarket business are also worth noting.

The Swiss construction project of the century becomes a reality
The Gotthard Base Tunnel will be ceremonially inaugurated on 1 June 2016. Today marks the start of the countdown to the grand opening. The Swiss-wide communication campaign "Gottardo 2016" is being launched at the same time. As a main partner, Coop will be part of this campaign and will help to shape it over the next 12 months, thus broadcasting the message of "Gottardo 2016" to its customers and also the general population.

Coop receives 2015 Swiss Environmental Award

Yesterday evening, Coop received this year's environmental award from the Swiss Environmental Foundation at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne. Each year, the award is given to private individuals, companies and organizations who make a significant contribution to solving today's environmental problems thanks to their commitment. This year, goods mobility was the focus of the award. Coop received the 2015 Environmental Award for its commitment to supplying Coop sales outlets using unaccompanied combined transport (UCT).

Coop: 250 actions not words for people, animals and the environment

Action no. 166 Oecoplan, conserving the environment for 26 years – now recommended by the WWF Coop's sustainability actions are now united under the motto "Actions not words". For more than 25 years, the retailer has been actively committed, with its partners, to sustainable consumption, protecting the environment and social responsibility. The latest action no. 251: From now on, Coop sales outlets will only be selling fairly traded fresh pineapples. This is just one of more than 250 actions, which are listed at www.taten-statt-worte.ch. And new ones are continually being added. Also since February, the WWF and Coop have been intensifying heir longstanding collaboration at various levels. From now on, Oecoplan products will bear the WWF logo.

Coop Group steers a successful course

The Coop Group turned in another successful performance in 2014. Total sales for 2014 amounted to CHF 28.2 billion, a rise of 1.4% after adjusting for exchange rates. Profit for the financial year increased by 1.7% to CHF 470 million. Once again, Coop held up well in a challenging market. The own-label sustainability brands and quality labels continue to grow at a high level and again generated record sales in 2014. The Coop Group topped the one billion franc mark with online trading for the first time with turnover of CHF 1.1 billion.

Transgourmet France sells Pro Hygiène Service to Orapi

Transgourmet France wishes to announce that, with a view to implementing its corporate strategy, it has sold the wholly owned-subsidiary Pro Hygiène Service to the Orapi Group. Pro Hygiène Service distributes hygiene and care products to professional customers, and in 2013 achieved a turnover of EUR 66 million with its staff of 330 employees.

Transgourmet sets course for growth in international export

Basel/Riedstadt, December 2014. On 1 January 2015, in a move that underlines its expansion in this segment, Transgourmet is acquiring the majority shareholding in Hamburg company Sump & Stammer, a major specialist in supplying cruise ships and international hotel chains.

Coop's retail business advances by 1.9%

Net sales in the retail business area were up 1.9% to CHF 17.7 billion in 2014. In real terms, net sales grew by 2.4%. The 837 supermarkets advanced by 0.7% to CHF 10.6 billion in 2014. The Coop Group generated net sales of over one billion Swiss francs with online trading for the first time in 2014. The retail online shops posted growth of 53.0% to CHF 450 million. The Wholesale/Production business unit made progress on an exchange rate-adjusted basis. The Coop Group continues to post steady growth: in 2014 total Group net sales (adjusted for exchange rates) went up by 1.3% to CHF 27.2 billion.
